Teaching Equilibrium: It’s Dynamic!
Chemical equilibrium can be a difficult concept for students to grasp. This session will explore a dynamic data collection activity, reading, writing, and dialogue around the topic of equilibrium. Participants will engage in hands-on, minds-on work related to the concept of dynamic equilibrium, acting first as learners and then as teachers. We will be exploring the topic of equilibrium, but the teaching strategies discussed--part of the Science Literacy Framework--are broadly applicable to any secondary or college science classroom.

Frequency, Wavelength, and Energy: Utilizing technology to build conceptual mathematical models
In this session we will look at utilizing online simulations and Excel to help students generate a conceptual mathematical model of the relationships between energy, wavelength, and frequency. This will be done in an iterative type approach that will result in students not only understanding key relationships, but they will also be able to use Excel to generate future models and relationships between variables. Bring a computer with Excel to try for yourself.

FUNdamental Properties and Nomenclature
Physical and Chemical properties seems an easy concept for students, so add some excitement and provide a challenging adventure for students through a scavenger hunt! The concept of nomenclature in chemistry can be more difficult for students to grasp. Add a couple games to make the learning more fun! Come join us and learn some fun new activities that your students will enjoy!
